Scammers continually keep up with current events; recently, they have been trying to seize your personal information using methods they have developed by using the COVID-19 pandemic that is sweeping our country and the world.

They can install malicious software on your devices via applications marked “thermometers,” “COVID-19 Precautions,” “Protect Yourself From the Pandemic,” and “COVID Test,” downloaded from app markets for smartphones, tablets, and PCs.

• We advise not downloading apps that are developed by unknown app developers and received a lot of positive reviews and scores in a short period of time.
• We strongly advise that you research little-known apps before you download them.

They can attempt to convince the customers of a financial institution to download malicious software using SMS or e-mail marked “COVID-19 precautions,” “Protect Yourself From the Pandemic,” or “COVID Test” using data seized or copied from trusted institutions or people, or using apps to seize security information for financial assets.

• Be wary of e-mails or SMS messages that come using information seized or copied from trusted institutions or people.
• Definitely do not open links sent by these kinds of suspicious sources.
• State institutions and financial institutions will never share links via e-mail or SMS.
• State institutions and financial institutions will never ask you for your financial or personal information.
